Level Advancement Testing 

To advance to the next level in VOENA, 

  1. You must learn the required materials for the level you want to advance to.
  2. You must schedule a virtual test time slot on the designated date. 

All testing will be via Zoom or Facetime in 10 minute time slots.  

To Sign Up for a Level Advancement Virtual Test Time Slot

Testing will be virtual via Facetime or ZOOM. You must sign up for a 10 minute time slot. 

Follow these directions:

Testing date:  May 2026, the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend

Level Advancement Testing Materials

Every advancement level has a list of solfège scales that you must know, and a list of “VOENA Classic” songs you must learn to sing and perform (incl. choreography).

Intermediate Level Advancement

To advance from Preparatory to Intermediate level, members must know the following:

Concert Choir I (CCI) Level Advancement

In addition to the slow Ionian and slow Aeolian, Intermediate level members must know the following to advance to Concert Choir I (CCI):

  • Three additional solfège scales:  
    Ionian fast (do, do re do, do re mi re do, etc.) - demonstrated at 1:16 of the solfège video (See link above).
    Ionian triad (do mi so mi do, re fa la fa re, etc.).  demonstrated at 2:38 of the solfège video (See link above). 
    Aeolian fast (la, la ti la, la ti do ti la, etc.) - demonstrated at 3:35 of the solfège video (See link above).
     
  • How to sing/perform the following four songs:
    Adiemus (invented language) + choreography     RECORDINGS ~ Lyrics ~ Sheet Music
    Kinderly (Old English) + choreography    RECORDINGS ~ Lyrics
    Sumbaie (invented language) + choreography    RECORDINGS ~ Lyrics

Advancement to Concert Choir II (CCII)

To advance from CCI to CCII, CCI members must know the following: 

  • One additional solfège scale:  
    Aeolian triad (la do mi do la, ti re fa re ti, etc.) - demonstrated at 5:01 of the solfège video (See link above).
     
  • How to sing/perform the following songs: 
    Vois Sur Toh Chemin (French) + choreography     RECORDINGS ~ Lyrics 
    O Sifuni Mungu (Swahili) + choreography)    RECORDINGS ~ Lyrics

Advancement to Creavo

Advancement to Creavo is by invitation from the Director. 

For consideration, CCII level members need to show exceptional learning abilities and the willingness to take on extra repertoire and choir vocal parts.
